When we want to access blocked sites on your smartphones or when we have connection problems, we may need to manually define IP and DNS on our phones, just like on computers.. Now let’s move on to how to do this, it’s a pretty simple process..
First of all, let’s go into the section where we can see the Wifi networks on our phone and tap once on whichever our network is.
When we tap on our network name, we will directly the following page will come.
To open our IP and DNS settings, let’s touch and tick the box next to “Show advanced options“.
New headings will come below, here “IP” Let’s touch on the text “settings” and select “Static“.
When we select the “Static” option, new sections will open just below. Now, before we make our IP settings, here’s what you need to pay attention to; we can’t write anything random here. First we need to know the modem gateway.
To give an example; The gateway is 192.168.1.1 in Huawei modems, while the gateway is 192.168.2.1 in ZTE modems. While the gateway is 192.168.2.1 in Airties modems, it is 192.168.1.1 in Zyxel modems..
The example you see below is made on a Huawei branded modem.. Now let’s move on to how we do the settings.
- First, let’s write our wifi password at the top
- The IP address we want to define to our phone/tablet where it says “IP address” we write. Since we are dealing with Huawei modem, we defined “192.168.1.30” here.. If we were using an Airties modem; We could have written “192.168.2.30.”.
- We do not touch “Network prefix length”.
- to “DNS 1” is Google DNS “8.8. 8.8”, “DNS 2” we write “8.8.4.4” and click connect.
If you do this correctly, you can log in to blocked sites.. Your connection will also be a little stronger.
