Mac Mini Will Be The First Mac With Arm Processor
Apple has not announced a new iMac at its WWDC 2020 conference today despite a lot of rumors swirling around.. However, the giant company announced at the conference that the migration to the processor for the MacOS operating system, which Apple calls “Apple Silicon” and what most of us call the Arm platform, has begun.. Apple spent the last 30 minutes of the WWDC presentation time discussing how to migrate MacOS to ARM.
In this transition, just like the transition from PowerPC to Intel 10 years ago, Intel-based applications with the Rosetta conversion engine Apple
In the demo images shared at WWDC, Apple’s Craig Federighi stated that the applications on the Mac are all Arm applications.. It has also been announced that Big Sur, a version of MacOS planned to be released this fall, will also support Apple Silicon.
However, these developments raised the question in the minds of application developers.. How could developers develop for a processor architecture they didn’t have? For this, Apple offered $500 worth of 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD and DTKs (Developer Transition Kit) with A12Z SoC system.. But the disadvantage of this is that Apple wants these DTKs to be returned after the development is finished.
According to Federighi’s statement, application developers can apply and order from Apple’s developer site as of today.
