For a software to be installed, we can change the Xp version number it wants from the registry so that this software can be installed. For example, an old driver may require
to be installed, but you have sp3 or you have sp1 but the software is less than sp2. it may not be installed on the version
first start > run >
find your version number by saying winver
, then double click and install one of the attached sp1, sp2, sp3 (whichever the software wants), and restart your PC, install and run the problematic software, if there is no problem, double click the reg record containing your old original sp value and boot your PC again
