Recover chat history from iCloud

To recover your chat history from iCloud backup, first of all, WhatsApp Settings > Chats > Chats Make sure you have a backup in iCloud by going to strong>Chat Backup. If you can see when the last backup was created, simply delete the application and reinstall it from the App Store.. After verifying your phone, on-screen instructions will prompt you to reload your chat history. The same iCloud backup terms are required for iCloud to restore. Also, the phone number you made the backup with and the one you are trying to restore must be the same. You cannot transfer chat history from another WhatsApp account. If you’re sharing an iCloud account, this allows you to store your backups separately.

iCloud Troubleshooting

If you’re having trouble backing up or restoring from iCloud, it’s probably not a WhatsApp issue. It is an issue with the iCloud account.

If you are unable to create a backup, please try the following:

  • iPhone Settings > iCloud Confirm that you are connected to iCloud from /strong>.
  • iPhone Settings > Confirm that iCloud Drive is turned on from iCloud. If you’re using iOS 7, you’ll see Documents & Data instead of iCloud Drive.
  • If you’re trying to back up on iPhones with iOS 7, confirm that iCloud Drive is not turned on on another device using your Apple ID. If you open iCloud Drive on any device using Apple ID, you will not be able to upload data in iOS 7 version. Even if iCloud Drive has been turned on and off before, you cannot back up on your iOS 7 device.. You may need to update to iOS 8 or later to make a backup.
  • Confirm that you have enough space in your iCloud account to create a backup. iPhone Settings > iCloud> You can see how much available space you have from Storage.
  • If you backup over cellular data network iPhone Settings for iOS 8 and later > iCloud > from iCloud Drive or iPhone Settings for iOS 7 > iCloud > Make sure Cellular Data Usage from Documents & Data is turned on.
  • WhatsApp Settings > Chats > Try to back up by pressing “Back Up Now” from Chat BackupKeep WhatsApp open as long as “loading” appears on the screen.
  • Trying to back up from another network – preferably the one you connect to the most. iCloud is designed to work best when you try to backup in the geographic location of the network you connect to more often.
  • If you are unable to restore the backup, please try the following:

  • Confirm that you are trying to restore data from the same phone number and iCloud account where the backup was set up.
  • Confirm that you have enough space on your iPhone to restore the backup. On your phone you can see the appropriate field by going to iPhone Settings > General > About.
  • iPhone Settings > iCloud > Confirm iCloud Drive is turned on from iCloud Drive. If you’re using iOS 7, you’ll see Documents & Data instead of iCloud Drive.
  • If the backup was created using iCloud Drive, you won’t be able to restore this backup on any device without iOS 8 or later.
  • If you have iCloud Drive turned on on any device using Apple ID, you won’t be able to restore data unless your phone is iOS 8 or later.
  • Trying to restore from another network – preferably the one you’re most connected to. iCloud is designed to work best when you try to restore from the location of the network you connect to more often.
