IBM Ds 4700 Storage is storage developed to meet the needs of Enterprise structures.. We didn’t mention Premium Features in IBM Ds 3000 series articles. Not to mention, Premium Feature is not mandatory within the Ds3000 product family. Premium features are features that we can optionally purchase and add according to our needs.. Since the Ds3000 product family is a product developed to meet the storage needs of small businesses, its usage areas are limited and it comes as a bundle for basic configurations on the Ds3000.
Ds4700 Storage Enterprise is a product developed to meet the needs of structures.. The size, needs and usage areas of enterprise structures vary according to the size of the structure.. When purchasing DS4700 series Storage, Premium Features License must be purchased, excluding hardware and accessories.
Flash Copy, Volume Copy, Remote Mirroring, Fc within Premium Features license /Sata Intermix, Enhanced Performance and Storage Partitioning features are available.

When we first receive our IBM Ds 4700 Storage, our priority configuration comes first.. Unconfigured FC and Sata disks are seen as seen above.
If we do not activate Premium features, we cannot even create Array and Lun, which is one of the simplest operations.
To activate the Premium Feayures feature, open the IBM System Storage Ds4000/FAStT Storage Manager 10 (Subsystem Management) management interface and select Storage Subsystem from the top menu. We select the List section in the Premium Features section under the section.
We can see the Premium Features Features and licenses installed on our Storage. We can see the licenses we have and how/how many licenses we use.
In order to activate the Premium Features license of our StorageFeature Enable Identifier.

we reach the address above and fill in the necessary sections on the relevant page. These sections are the ;
· Feature activation code
· Feature enable identifier
· Machine type
· Model number
· DS4000 serial number

As a result of the information we have given, a Feature Key File is created and we download this file.
IBM System Storage Ds4000/ We open the FAStT Storage Manager 10 (Subsystem Management) management interface and select the Enable section in the Premium Features section under the Storage Subsystem Section from the top menu.
Select Feature Key File section will appear. In this section, we show the Feature Key Path that we have downloaded and press the arrow button.

We accept the warning that the Storage Subsystem’s Premium Features feature will be active, and activate the feature key.
After installing our Feature Key licenses on our storage, Aray/ Lun creation, Storage Mapping, Flash Copy – Volume copy, Remote Mirroring etc.. we can use our storage according to the license features we have.
When we get a new Premium features license for the existing Storage Subsystem according to our needs in the future, we can do the same and get a new one. we can load our licenses. In the section where we have activated the licenses, we can select the licenses that we do not use as Disable and keep them under the subsystem.. Premium features We don’t need to reboot the system after enabling / disabling our licenses.. The licenses we have installed will be detected automatically.
