Honda has announced that all vehicle models offered for sale in Europe will be electrified after 2022. The company announced this date as 2025 before. In this context, the Japanese company will produce 6 new electric models in 3 years. While it was announced that all of these vehicles will be powered by electric motors, it was noted that some models, such as the Honde E, will be produced as fully electric and models such as the Jazz will be produced as hybrids (both electric and gasoline engines).

Honda’s Vice President for Europe, Tom Gardener, said: “Legislation, market and customer behavior related to electric vehicles are changing much faster than expected on the continent. And this process of change is accelerating more and more. We needed to respond to this need as soon as possible.”

According to Euronews, Honda also announced that it has signed an agreement with Swedish energy provider Vattenfall to solve the problem of charging electric cars. Within the scope of the agreement, efforts will be made to increase renewable energy sources in all of Europe, primarily in England and Germany.

More than one million electric vehicles are expected to be sold in Europe in 2020 within the framework of the EU Carbon Emission Agreement. With the current technology, electric vehicles that can be charged in 10 minutes can reach a range of approximately 300 kilometers. Norway has the most electric vehicles in Europe. As of 2018, 10 out of every 100 vehicles on the road in this country are electric.
