With its unique retro style, the new Game Boy heralds that it will be talked about more than its design. This device, which has a stylish, simple appearance in black, has the standard Game Boy buttons and a slot for cassettes, but instead of copying the retro design, the device comes up with its own style. Since there are no labels on the device, it looks like a ‘hidden mode game system’.
The fact that Game Boy: Anolouge Pocket, designed in portrait mode, is used vertically rather than horizontally seems to provide a more comfortable use. With this feature, it draws attention for its easier use.
Analogue CEO Christopher Taber’s thoughts on the design of the device are as follows: “The video game industry is developing in terms of diversity in design concept research compared to other industries. We want to push this limit as much as we can, otherwise it has no appeal to us”.
Analogue Pocket is not powered by the emulator. It houses the direct cartridge system. In addition to the classic model, the new generation model, which also runs Color and Advance cartridges, provides access to more than 2,700 games. The first notable feature of the device is the screen resolution. The device has a 3.5-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1600×1440 pixels. The pixel density is announced as 665 ppi.
While the Game Boy: Analouge Pocket, which is expected to be released in 2020, is expected to be available for around $200, we cannot talk about a clear price and release date for now.
