South Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung and American internet service provider Yahoo, on the one hand, another South Korean LG and American Netflix, on the other hand, announced that they have formed a partnership to connect televisions to internet content.

Samsung and Yahoo, in a joint statement, said that some of Samsung’s flat-screen and high-definition television models are part of Yahoo’s 5th Anniversary, which enables viewers to interact with rich content and the Internet. They stated that they will be equipped with the next generation application platform “Widget Engine.” Samsung is preparing to launch televisions with this “interface” application in 13 American and European countries this year. In the other wing of the alliance, LG brand television buyers will be able to choose plasma or LCD high-definition “Broadband TV” (broadband TV) models with Netflix for downloading movies from the internet. This model of TVs from LG eliminates the need to purchase a console or converter to access Netflix programs.
