While not on the same level as other PlayStation classics like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro or Final Fantasy VII, MediEvil fans have been waiting for the next-gen version of the game for a long time.
Unfamiliar with this old Sony franchise. For those, MediEvil tells the story of Sir Daniel Fortesque. Gallowmere’s bravest, most cunning and respected knight. He managed to defeat the malevolent wizard Zarok in his final battle without even getting a scratch.
Actually, none of this is true.. The legends were very kind to him because he was the first to fall after an arrow was shot in his eye.. Zarok is back a century later, and now Gallowmere’s fate is in the hands of his false savior.
MediEvil doesn’t overwhelm you in the story, you can interact with a limited number of key characters to progress in the game. There’s a humorous streak going all the way through, and it makes sure you have a lot of fun.. While some try to claim Dan’s legacy, his dead friends in the hall of heroes continue to demoralize with sarcastic remarks.
This is not the first time Sir Dan has been exhumed, but MediEvil Resurrection was launched for PSP in 2005.. Ocean Interactive was the other developer.
Playing MediEvil on PlayStation 4 may seem very simple.. Leaving aside the boss fights, the fights can get boring sometimes because we can’t cut through the enemies.. As you navigate through some of the scenes, you can see that it has been edited faithfully to the 1998 production.
When you put them side by side, you can see some minor improvements. For example, a small reticle shows which enemy you are targeting.. We can also call it the L2 key or the left trigger button, it can be used to put the camera in an over-the-shoulder perspective in some large areas.. However, the Lost Soul part has been added, which you can do as a side quest outside of the main story.. Once you start this mod, you can recruit Sir Dan somewhere in Gallowmere to help him collect lost souls.. It’s basically a fun mod that gives you another reason to extend the duration of this immortal adventure.
The 2019 remake (remake) managed to capture the same flavor as the 98 version, accompanied by a completely remastered soundtrack.. Although the graphics of the game are low compared to today’s technology, the aim is nostalgic entertainment and this game’s fans get the entertainment they want.. Also, since the game’s release date is close to Halloween, and the in-game theme is very suitable for this, it can be evaluated.
I conclude
MediEvil, new lifts from the grave an all-time favorite PlayStation hero for a generation. It may sound low graphically or the melee mechanics can be boring at times, but it gives you that nostalgia and I think that’s what Sony was aiming for.. It may be the best gift for little gamers for Halloween.
