What is Winrar and What is it for?

WinRar is the name of the program that compresses and archives your digital files.. Winrar compresses multiple files, reduces their size and makes them one file. It provides ease of transferring files prepared with Winrar via e-mail and uploading files to the Internet. It is a program that can read and decode formats such as BZ2, JAR, ISO, 7Z, Z, but it does not prefer to compress in these formats.

Beginning

The file you want to compress or collect files in a folder or on the desktop. In other words, the files to be compressed must be in the same url. Select the files you want to encrypt one by one by pressing the “Ctrl” key and right-click.

You will be presented with 4 options for Winrar. “Add to Archive”; The operation you will do with this option opens the winrar options. Here you can compress using many options.. This is the commonly used menu. When you select this option, the following menu will appear.. There are many options available here.

Add to Archive [Filename.rar]“; The filename.rar field is the name of the folder where your files are located. By default, Winrar creates the winrar file with the same name in the folder where the files are located.. In my example, since the files are on the desktop, the file name automatically appears as “Desktop.rar”.. So what happens by choosing this option? The files you will compress are directly compressed as “rar” without opening the winrar menu above and without any other operation, where the “file name” is located.. You compress without evaluating any option of Winrar. You can use it quickly if the files to be compressed are not going to be encrypted or split in winrar.

“Compress and send email”; In the action you will do with this option, the winrar compression menu opens, after making the desired adjustments, the generated winrar file is forwarded to the e-mail account set on your computer, and the file created is added to the mail by creating a new mail.. Email option drastically reduces large files. You will get an error if e-mail settings are not made on your computer.. This option saves to the generated mail without registering to your computer.

“Compress [Filename.rar] and send email”; This process saves the winrar operation as winrar in the filename folder and creates an e-mail.

How to Set Password to Winrar?

Choose the files you want to encrypt and right click select “Add to Archive”. The following screen will appear.

The name of the archive in this menu is automatically the folder name where the files are located, you can change the archive name here. When changing the archive name, the “rar” extension at the end is not changed. “rar4” and “zip” under “Archive Format” are also compression formatting formats.

Click “Choose Password” at the bottom right to encrypt files. When you select this menu, the following field will appear.

Enter the password you want to create in the “Enter password” field, enter the same password again to confirm it in the second field.. If you leave “Encrypt File Names” as it is, when you enter the created winrar file, the files will appear and it will ask for a password while exporting the file. If you put a pad in “Encrypt Filenames”, you will not be able to see the files without entering the password.. You create the password by saying “ok”. After clicking “OK” on the main screen, your encrypted winrar file will be created where your files are.

When creating a password in Winrar, be careful to create a strong password.. Because there are many decryption programs on the internet to crack winrar files.. Such programs try to decrypt by trying all kinds of alternative passwords.. The more complex and stronger your password, the more difficult and impossible it will be to crack.. Here’s how to create a strong password that’s easy to remember.
