Your WhatsApp messages are automatically backed up to your phone’s memory at 3 am every morning. It is not possible to turn it off. OneDrive requirements

You must have Windows Phone 8.1 or higher.

You must be signed in to your OneDrive account.

Both your Windows Phone and OneDrive should have enough space to back up. Save the storage on your phone in Settings > System > Smart storage (Storage on Windows 10 Mobile).

Backup to OneDrive

Open WhatsApp.

More > settings > chats and searches > Tap backup.

Choose how often to back up to OneDrive, or tap back up to make a manual backup.
