Server Room Air Conditioner Calculation Table

Hello

If you are the ones who convey such transactions to the relevant technical services, which we need to know as all IT professionals, but as many of us do.
At least, we can understand whether the technical services will fit us well.

Calculation of Heat Loads
First of all, there is an important issue that we should know. This is the standards of Air Conditioners. Air conditioners are marketed in two standards. British Thermal Units (BTU) or Kilowatts (KW). In Turkey, this subject is usually mentioned in terms of BTU, but it is useful to have knowledge.. 1 KW = 3412 BTU.

What we need to add to this value when calculating our loads:

• The size of the room in square meters

• Number of windows and their size, if any, Whether there is blackout on these windows (Curtain, Glass Movie , Venetian .. etc) like.

• Temperature of devices in the environment

• Temperature of lights

Room Area Calculation

Room Area Calculation BTU = Length (mt.) x Width (mt.) x 337

Window Size and Direction

If your Server room does not have any windows, this You can leave the account blank.

BTU= Length (mt.) x Width (mt.) x 870 for South Facing Window

BTU= Length (mt.) x Width for North-Facing Window (mt.) x 165

If the windows do not have any dimming, you should add the total values times 1.5.

If you have windows in both directions.

Window Total BTU = South-Facing Window BTU + North-Facing Window

Note: Window products must be multiplied separately for each window. That is, if there are two South-Facing Windows in your room, factor both of them separately. You should sum the result.

Personnel

Under normal conditions, there is no permanent staff working in server rooms. However, there may be employees in some places. For each personnel working in such situations.

Working Personnel BTU = Number of Personnel x 400

Temperature of Devices

The number one factor for the heating of server rooms in general Our trick here is to get the highest watt values of our devices. Normally, the devices work below these values, but we should always make our plans according to the crisis situation assessment. And we should not ignore that our system may grow in the future.

At this point, we should write the Watt values of all our devices (such as Servers, Switches, Firewalls or Routers). We must multiply all these values by 3.5..

Heat Value of Devices BTU =Sum of WATT values of all devices x 3.5

Temperature of Lights

From the unit of Watt of the lights in the environment multiply the sum by 4.25.

Heat of Lights BTU= Sum of WATT values of all lightings x 4.25

Total Cooling Value

BTU values of all our totals total.

Total Heatsink Value BTU= Total BTU of room area + Total of windows BTU + Total of personnel BTU + Total of devices BTU + Total of lights BTU
.

I hope it will be useful. Good luck to everyone studies.
